The College Tuition Fee Waiver for the Dependents of Veterans -- sometimes called the CalVet Fee Waiver -- is a state benefit that provides a tuition-free education at the CSU and the other state public post-secondary colleges and universities.

The Veterans Home of California - Yountville Veterans desiring to be considered for membership must be residents of California, age 62 or older (or younger if disabled), and have served honorably.

A child must be under 27 years of age to receive the fee waiver benefit. The age limit is extended to 30 years of age if the child is a veteran. There are no age limits for a spouse, unmarried surviving spouse or RDP. *NOTE:A dependent cannot receive this benefit if they are in receipt of VA Chapter 35 benefits.

Typically, most education benefits can be collected for 36 months; however, the maximum amount that can be collected under any combination of VA education program is 48 months.

The California Promise Grant, formerly Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW), waives the enrollment fees and tuition for eligible California residents attending California Community College. The CCPG Fee Waiver will waive your per-unit enrollment fee for the entire academic year if you apply and qualify.

Be a child earning less than $13,300 per year (student's income, not parents') current academic year 2020-21 ​or $13,465 for upcoming academic year 2021-22. There is no income limit for a spouse or children of S/C deceased or 100% S/C disabled veterans.

The College Tuition Fee Waiver for veteran dependents benefit waives mandatory system-wide tuition and fees at any State of California Community College, California State University, or University of California campus. This program does not cover the expense of books, parking or room and board.
