A player cannot themselves obtain international clearance; the club with which they intend to register in England must submit a completed international clearance request form to The FA, along with a copy of the player's passport (photo page) or national identity card.

Per FIFA's Regulations, the international clearance process is required when any foreign-born player over the age of 10 is attempting to register with an affiliated club/team/league in the United States, regardless of that player's soccer ability or citizenship and one or both of the below instances apply: •

A goal clearance is awarded when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line, either on the ground or in the air, having last touched a player of the attacking team, and a goal is not scored in ance with Law 10.

International Clearance ensure's players have fulfilled their financial obligations to previous clubs, county or regional FA's, and that they are not serving a suspension in another country. It is important every club is vigilant when registering players.

To obtain an ITC you will need to complete a registration through PlayFootball, with players being prompted to answer a question regarding their previous playing history overseas. ITCs can only be requested once submitted through a player's PlayFootball registration.

INTERNATIONAL CLEARANCE TRANSFER (ITC) - Player (adult or minor) of any nationality who has previously been registered with a club affiliated to one federation and now wishes to be registered with a club affiliated to the United States.

International Clearance is required by all players moving across borders to play football and it applies to all players over the age of 10.

If The FA receives no response after 30 days from the date of our request, a provisional clearance can be issued which enables the player to register and play for the Club. All requests made by Clubs will be acknowledged by the Player Status department.
