MODES is an administrative agency of the state of Missouri. MODES's purpose is to promote employment security by providing for the payment of compensation to individuals who become unemployed through no fault of their own.

Missouri does not have any minimum or maximum amount of hours you have to work to be considered full-time or part-time.

Presently, no OSHA standard to regulate extended and unusual shifts in the workplace exists. A work period of eight consecutive hours over five days with at least eight hours of rest in between shifts defines a standard shift. Any shift that goes beyond this standard is considered to be extended or unusual.

While some states have daily overtime limit which entitles any employee who works for more then a certain number of hours in a single day to be paid overtime, Missouri does not specify a daily overtime limit.

There is no minimum or maximum number of hours an employee may be scheduled or asked to work. This is in ance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. Missouri labor laws also require most employers to pay or compensate their employees for the number of actual hours worked.

Missouri also has "right to work" laws that prohibit union membership as a condition of employment. Like most states, Missouri labor laws require at least a minimum wage payment, prohibit discrimination, and allow employees to take leave from work when necessary.
