About the IET Wiring Regulations The IET co-publishes BS 7671 with the British Standards Institution (BSI) and is the authority on electrical installation.

Electrical installation certificates are a form of test certificate generated by a qualified and competent electrician or another competent person that is legally required to demonstrate that the electrical installation, wiring, and fuses are compliant with the BS 7671 standards.

At present, BS-IV auto fuels are being supplied in over 30 cities, and the rest of the country has BS-III fuels. Earlier, the government planned the implementation of BS V and BS VI emission norms nationwide by 2020 and 2024 respectively.

An electrical installation condition report (EICR) identifies any damage, deterioration, defects and/or conditions which may give rise to danger along with observations for which improvement is recommended.

BS 7671 is a document that, if complied with, affords good evidence of intent to comply with the law, and is admissible in court as defence. The requirements of the IET Wiring Regulations are well regarded, and align with European and international standards and are generally accepted as good industry practice.

An electrical installation is a group of items of electrical equipment that are permanently electrically connected together and can be supplied with electricity from the works of an electricity entity or from a generating source. An item of electrical equipment may be part of more than 1 electrical installation.

British Standard BS 7671 It came into effect from 1st January 2019 and is the national standard used for electrical installation and wiring safety across domestic, commercial, and industrial properties.
