Students wishing to change their major must fill out an application form that may be obtained from the School of Engineering Office of Academic Services. The change is not effected until approved by the old and new departments and until the completed form is filed with the registrar and appropriate deans.

You will need to complete and submit the Online Withdrawal Form. You can use the online form during the first nine weeks of the fall and spring semester. Once the form is completed and submitted, the Office of the Registrar, the Office of Academic Advising, Office of Financial and Student Accounting will be notified.

Medical leaves are granted upon the recommendation of a physician at a Rutgers health facility. All students who request a leave of absence for either personal or medical reasons must complete a Leave of Absence form and meet with the dean of students.

SEBS Students can change or add a major or minor by completing an online request through MyMajor.sebs.rutgers.edu. The online form can also be used to change your degree (graduation) date. Students are encouraged to meet with the Undergraduate Program Director in the new major you would like to declare.

All incoming students enter Rutgers undeclared. Selecting a major, like other academic planning decisions, depends on your goals and interests.

Declaration is done by submitting a major/minor declaration form, available online at mymajor.sas.rutgers.edu. Some academic departments may have prerequisites and/or require approval by an adviser.

A change of major should be discussed with the student's faculty adviser and the undergraduate program director of the curriculum the student plans to enter. Such a change should then be properly recorded on a Change of Major form available online at the SEBS website (sebs.rutgers.edu/academics).
