Mirrors help you improve your form. The primary reason so many fitness studios have mirrors hanging on their walls is that it offers members the ability to observe their form, alignment and posture when exercising.

Let's break this down really quick: Gym mirrors in most fitness / dance studios are always leaning a bit forward at the top. It's an illusion to make you feel fitter and more muscular than you really are. Regular mirrors are thinner in their glass thickness, so you get a condensed reflection.

No one else will tell you the truth on this, but there are a few reasons*. * Most male CrossFitters actually have a SEVERE allergy to wet cotton. If they don't IMMEDIATELY remove a t-shirt as soon as they start sweating they will break out in hives.

The majority of people who do CrossFit are between the ages of 25 and 34, followed by 35 to 44. That is because people around that age start settling into adulthood and want to regain or maintain their youthful figure.

At F45, we believe our studio should be a safe haven from all of the self-doubt and negativity. That's why you will never find a mirror in our studio. We simply want you to focus on the workouts and feeling your best, rather than how you look during the workout.

That's the Crossfit philosophy. It's about learning to trust yourself and your body without relying on imperfections being displayed in a mirror. It provides better results and more fulfilling growth.

With nearly every WOD, I felt like I needed to tweak it so I wouldn't destroy my legs for the next day's run. And after a WOD — even if I didn't go all out — it was hard to hit my goal paces on my next hard run. And I didn't feel right about showing up to the gym and tweaking everything they had planned for the class.
