Washington DC corporations and LLCs are formed by filing the Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization with the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. It costs $220 to form a Washington DC corporation or LLC.

You can find information on any corporation or business entity in the District of Columbia or another state by performing a search on the Secretary of State website of the state or territory where that corporation is registered.

There are fees for standard business license application and renewal; however, operating without having a business license first will cost you more.
