Get Utsa Grade Grievance

The failing grade will NOT calculate in your GPA, but it will still show on your transcript. On your transcript, an "E" will show to the right of your failing grade to mark the course as "Excluded". On your transcript, an "I" will show to the right of the second time you took the class, marking it as "Included".

A graduate student who has been dismissed academically may petition for reinstatement after one semester (fall, spring, or summer) has elapsed from the date of dismissal. Under exceptional circumstances, a petition may be considered earlier.

You take the course again the following semester and earn another 'D'. Although you need to retake the course to earn credit for your degree, you are no longer eligible to receive federal aid for that class. Additionally, you cannot use that course toward enrollment for financial aid purposes.

If the matter is not resolved, the student may file a formal grievance, in writing, with the Department Chair. The student must file the grievance with the Department Chair within ninety (90) calendar days from the end of the semester in which the grade was assigned or the other concern or incident occurred.

Undergraduate students who fail to maintain the minimum required grade point average of 2.0 in all work attempted at UTSA will be placed on academic warning, academic probation, or academic dismissal as appropriate.

An individual course may be repeated only once to replace the grade in the UTSA GPA. A grade of W" does not count as an attempt for purposes of grade replacement. Grades in subsequent retakes will be averaged. A student will be allowed to replace up to four grades in their UTSA GPA.

The 3-peat charges occur when you attempt to take the same class a third time. Students must complete their degree requirements within 150 semester credit hours. If you go over this limit, you will be charged 30-hour or 45-hour charges.
