Get Maryland Certified Marriage License 2016-2024

In person requests are taken at Clerk of the Circuit Court, 129 East Main Street, Room 108, Elkton, Maryland 21921. Email requests to cecilcountylicensing@mdcourts.gov. Fax requests to 1-800-569-0648.

You will need to contact the County Recorder's Office in the county where the marriage license was issued. CDPH Vital Records is continually indexing marriage records and will post updates on the website as more years become available for request.

The Division of Vital Records' lobby is open to service all customers by appointment only. Marriage certificates may also be ordered ONLINE or by Mail. Check on your online order status here.

Certified copies may be obtained from the Marriage License Department. You may also request a certified copy by mail. Mail your request to the Clerk of the Circuit Court, P.O. Box 198 Salisbury, MD 21803-0198.

In person: Certified copies may be obtained from the Marriage License Department. The fee is $5.50 per certified copy, payable by cash, check, or credit card (Visa/Mastercard).

Waiting Period: After application, the license, which is not effective until 6:00 a.m. on the second calendar day, will be issued. (i.e. 48 hour waiting period) The license must be used within 6 months (you must marry within 6 months or the license will be void).

Copies may be obtained in person or by mail. A certified copy can be obtained only from the Clerk of the Circuit Court for the county where the marriage license was issued.
