A building permit is required by Section 110.0 of the Massachusetts State Building Code (780 CMR). Grading Permit (PDF): The bond amount for a grading permit is based on the disturbed area on an approved engineered sediment control plan (disturbed area in square feet multiplied by 4 cents, plus $300), except for stockpiles, which are calculated at $2 per cubic yard.
