A franchised agent is someone who has entered into an agreement with the Union setting forth certain terms and conditions of a SAG-AFTRA member's relationship with an agent. Although agents primarily seek out work opportunities for actors, they often do much more.

Please submit your application no less than 4-6 weeks before your first date of work, including travel, rehearsal, and principal photography. Failure to submit a Preliminary Information Form or Signatory Application in a timely manner may result in delays and/or your project not being granted clearance by SAG-AFTRA.

Global Rule One states: No member shall render any services or make an agreement to perform services for any employer who has not executed a basic minimum agreement with the union, which is in full force and effect, in any jurisdiction in which there is a SAG-AFTRA national collective bargaining agreement in place.

If you do decide to make the change, SAG-AFTRA requires a written request that you can mail, fax or drop off in person. The request needs to include your SAG-AFTRA identification, your current name with a signature and the name you're requesting with a signature.

The Franchise Agreement used by SAG was SAG Rule 16(g), which limited talent agencies to no more than a 10% investment in production companies, in addition to other restrictions.
