What are YALI Regional Leadership Centers? There are four Regional Leadership Centers (Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa).

The YALI Network The Network's public engagement campaigns promote U.S. policy goals in Africa, such as good governance, gender equality, women's empowerment, and entrepreneurship to help young African leaders develop the skills and connections they need to become a positive force for change in their communities.

Yali figures are considered to be a type of grotesque sculpture, meant to inspire fear and awe, and have iconographies similar to other composite mythological creatures, such as the hippogryph and sphinx of ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt.

Anyone can become a member of the YALI Network, which grants members access to over 25 online courses and Video Vignette Series that cover a range of topics, from promoting the rights of women and girls to starting and growing a small business.

The meaning of Yali is “God with me” or “my God” (from Hebrew “yah/יָה” = referring to the Hebrew God + “li/לי” = me/for me/to me).

Yali are a major tribal group in Highland Papua, Indonesia, and live to the east of the Baliem Valley in the Papuan highlands, mainly in Yalimo Regency, Yahukimo Regency, and the surrounding regencies.
