Students desiring to return to the college after dismissal must submit an application and a readmission petition to the Enrollment Services Office by the second Friday of September to be considered for readmission in the spring semester.

The student is limited to a maximum of three attempts in any one course to earn a passing grade. The grade from the most recent time the course was repeated will be used for determining grade point average regardless of whether the last grade is higher or lower than the grade earned on previous attempts.

When a student drops a class, it disappears from their schedule. After the “drop/add” period, a student may still have the option to withdraw. Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade. It does not affect the student's GPA (grade point average).

Withdraw online through your student account. Log into your student account and go to the class registration area. Look for an “add/drop” tab. You'll see a list of your classes. Click on the “withdraw” option in the drop-down box.

Satisfactory academic progress is defined as passing a required number of hours (Pace), and achieving a required grade point average (GPA) during a reasonable period of time (Maximum Time Frame).

Academic Renewal Petition – A student may petition to have up to 24 semester units of substandard work (D, F or WF grade assigned) taken at El Camino College disregarded in the determination of the grade-point average (GPA).
