Members of the base honor guard flight serve a three-month rotation. At the start of each rotation, every squadron chooses Airmen from a group of volunteers.

Funeral planners or family members of eligible deceased veterans may request funeral honors by contacting a representative at the number listed in the Military Funeral Honors Directory for their area. They can also reach out to the program manager overseeing the Military Funeral Honors program for their service branch.

The Air Force Honor Guard (USAF Honor Guard) is the public face of the Air Force. Members are immaculately groomed and perform all movements with precision. They take part in ceremonies and special events around the world.

While supporting the Air Force's ongoing military operations is critical, the USAF Honor Guard is a specialized command, operating solely to provide ceremonial support to the entire Air Force.

The Honor Guard generally doesn't deploy, but members on occasion can be deployed on an individual basis, given the need. This is a change from the honor guard's history, when the unit was considered a "controlled tour" and thus completely non-deployable.

The Honor Guard renders military honors to Air Force personnel and their families during funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery. It also conducts military ceremonies at the White House, Pentagon and national memorials.
