Get Parks Junior Ranger Program 2009-2024

Many national parks offer young visitors the opportunity to join the National Park Service "family" as Junior Rangers. Interested youth complete a series of activities during a park visit, share their answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger patch and Junior Ranger certificate.

The EUROPARC Federation Junior Ranger Programme is aimed at young people aged 12-18 who are living within or close to the Protected Area. The programme involves around 50 Protected Areas across 19 different countries, working with ~1000 youth every year. The Junior Ranger network has also grown beyond EUROPARC.

The USA National Parks Service offers the Junior Ranger program at almost all of their 423 sites! We are huge fans of the Junior Ranger program. The program helps us easily focus on key history, wildlife, or geology unique to a park.

All Junior Rangers activities are led by a Parks Victoria Ranger to encourage families to explore parks and create lifelong connections with nature. Children can learn all about wildlife, plants, micro-critters, bushfires, marine life, heritage, culture, and so much more. All families are welcome.

You can also ask for a certificate dated and signed by the Park Ranger as additional proof of your Junior Ranger program completion. All you have to do now is figure out where you are going to get your next badge. There are more than 200 badges available for you to earn!

Just as many people collect the passport stamps from the various parks they visit, some people have taken on the collection of Junior Ranger badges. Aida Frey, a teenage from Kentucky, is unofficially known as “the most decorated Junior Ranger” with over 300 badges.

Junior Ranger programs are a fun and popular way for youth to learn about and uniquely explore park lands, while instilling a sense of stewardship. Children of all ages are invited to earn Junior Ranger badges by completing a free activity book during a visit to any or all of Nevada's beautiful state parks.
