The Chicago Housing Authority is the third largest public housing agency in the nation. CHA serves more than 20,000 low-income households, by providing safe, decent and affordable housing in healthy, vibrant communities.

The Section 202 Chicago low income senior housing units are available for all applicants above the age of 62. The income of the applicants should be 50% or below the AMI. Other adult family members can also reside with the senior citizen. However, the income of each resident will be accounted for qualification.

(IHS defines “low-income” as below 150 percent of the poverty line, $18,210 for a single person or $37,650 for a family of four. An “affordable” home is one with a rent of no more than 30 percent of a household's income.)
