After your Nurse Portal account has been created, you will be able to access/login to it through the LSBPNE website. Once you have signed into your Nurse Portal account, proceed to the section entitled “Your Licenses with Louisiana-PN”. You will choose the "Apply for Renewal" link to begin your renewal.

Renewal: Renewal period is from October 1 to December 31 of each calendar year. It costs $100 to renew a license. 1600 nursing hours and 5 contact hours are required, or more contact hours if less nursing hours have been met.

All Louisiana RNs must have completed 30 Board-approved contact hours of continuing education during the two-year licensure period, or a minimum of 900 practice hours during the two-year licensure period as verified by the employer on a form provided by the board.

You must complete the FCVS application in order to apply for licensure. Background Check - NOTE: If you are a physician on a current LSBME training permit, you do not need to do another background check when applying for full licensure. LSBME conducts background checks as part of the application process.
