The due date for filing your tax return is typically April 15 if you're a calendar year filer. Generally, most individuals are calendar year filers. For individuals, the last day to file your 2023 taxes without an extension is April 15, 2024, unless extended because of a state holiday.

A tax schedule is a form the IRS requires you to prepare in addition to your tax return when you have certain types of income or deductions. These commonly include things like significant amounts of interest income, mortgage interest or charitable contributions.

For estimated tax purposes, a year has four payment periods. Taxpayers must make a payment each quarter. For most people, the due date for the first quarterly payment is April 15. The next payments are due June 15 and Sept.

Use Form 9465 to request a monthly installment agreement (payment plan) if you can't pay the full amount you owe shown on your tax return (or on a notice we sent you). Individuals are subject to a calendar tax year beginning Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31. Tax returns in the U.S. for the year are usually due on April 15 of the following year.

You can pay the entire estimated tax by the September 15 due date or pay it in two installments by September 15, 2023, and January 16, 2024. If more than two-thirds of your income is from farming or fishing, you only need to make one estimated tax payment for the 2023 tax year, due by January 16, 2024.
