IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED As you know, one of the BSA's many barriers to abuse is a mandatory criminal background check during the adult volunteer application process.

Here's what you need to know about this new process: Beginning in 2020 all registered adults will be submitted for an updated criminal background check with rechecks every five years.

Incidents requiring an immediate report to the Scout executive. The following must be reported to the council Scout executive for action immediately: Any threat or use of a weapon. Any negative behavior associated with race, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.

Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.

Code 42: Merit Badge Counselor (18) this is a district position requiring district approval by the Advancement Committee. No fee is required. Adult application and the information sheet is required and turned in however is not part of your unit charter.

To attain the Eagle rank, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges, fulfill leadership roles and display outdoor skills, demonstrate by example the Scout Oath and Law, and complete a comprehensive service project in the community.
