Get Transfer Form (cash Investment)

Most accounts can be transferred through an automated process called the Automated Customer Account Transfer (ACAT) Service. Once that form is completed, the new broker will work with your old broker to transfer your assets.

Cash transfer You simply sell all of your securities and then move the cash to the new brokerage. You may not even need help, since you can withdraw the cash. Then you can invest the money how you choose at your new broker.

This form is used to request to transfer an account between brokerage firms. A complete copy of the most recent account statement (dated within 90 days) from the delivering account must accompany this form for the transfer to be processed. Submit this completed form to your Introducing Broker Dealer.

The receiving Member will initiate the transfer by submitting a Transfer Information (TI) record, also known as a TIF (Transfer Initiation Form) to ACATS.

Accounts are funded through two primary channels: ACH bank transfers, which run on the same system used for payroll direct deposits and other direct-to-bank-account payment applications, and ACATS account transfers, which are the industry standard method for moving client assets between different brokerage firms [1].

The transfer process typically takes between 5-7 business days from the time your transfer is submitted if your current brokerage uses the ACATS system.

In-kind transfers let you move investments from one account to another without selling the asset and paying taxes on the gains. So, for example, if you own stock in one IRA and want to move it to another IRA, you could accomplish your goal with an in-kind transfer.
