Use Royal Mail's Stamp Swap Out Scheme: you can exchange non-barcoded stamps for barcoded ones. Royal Mail opened this scheme on 31 March 2022. The Stamp Swap Out Scheme will remain open after 31 January 2023 so you can continue to swap out any old non-barcoded stamps.

Unusable and spoiled stamped envelopes or stamped cards, if uncanceled, and unused precanceled stamps and stamped cards, are exchanged for other postage-stamped paper.

You must complete and return the 'Stamp Swap Out' form along with any unused stamps to the Royal Mail freepost address provided.

Once you buy stamps from the Post Office, generally all sales are final. So, you can't sell stamps back to the Post Office, but you do have some options. Instead, you can sell your stamps to a Postage Buying Service for a cash payment.

Refunds for unused online postage labels must be made within 14 calendar days of the post by date. If you have printed out your label, please attach your unused label to the form.
