Codified Law 34-37-16 | South Dakota Legislature. 34-37-16. Possession of unauthorized fireworks as misdemeanor--Seizure--Destruction. A person is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor if the person possesses any fireworks, other than those enumerated in § 34-37-5.

All 50 states have "Move Over" laws to protect law enforcement officers and other first responders stopped on roadways, yet one-third of Americans are not aware of these laws. Violation of the Move Over law results in fines and in some cases jail time.

No person may turn a vehicle at an intersection unless the vehicle is in proper position upon the roadway as required by §§ 32-26-17 and 32-26-18. A signal of intention to turn right or left when required shall be given continuously during not less than the last one hundred feet traveled by the vehicle before turning.

South Dakota's Move Over law requires travelers to move over and/or slow down when a stopped vehicle is in use of amber, yellow, or blue warning lights. A violation of this law is a Class 2 misdemeanor, which is punishable by a minimum fine of $270.00 and/or 30 days in jail.

Slow Moving Vehicles The emblem must be in good condition and be mounted in a clearly visible location on the rear of the vehicle. Slow-moving vehicles traveling on a public road must be driven as close to the right-hand edge or curb of the road as possible, except when overtaking and passing another vehicle.

The speed limit on rural Interstate is 80 mph for cars or trucks, day or night, with a minimum speed of 40 mph. All secondary highways are 65 mph, unless otherwise posted. School zones and obstructed intersections are 15 mph. City streets are 25 mph, unless otherwise posted.
