The idea for Katie's Krops began with a 9-year-old girl and a 40 pound cabbage. In 2008 Katie brought home a tiny cabbage seedling from school as part of the Bonnie Plants Third Grade Cabbage Program. She tended to her cabbage and cared for it until it grew to an amazing 40 pounds.

If one cabbage could feed 275 people, imagine how many people a garden could feed! That is story of how Katie's Krops began with a mission to empower youth to start and maintain vegetable gardens and donate the harvest to those in need, as well as assist and inspire others to do the same.

She is the founder of Katie's Krops, a non-for-profit organization with the mission to empower youth, start and maintain vegetable gardens of all sizes, and donate the harvest to help feed people in need.

Katie's Krops was founded in 2010 by Katie Stagliano, who in 2008 at the tender age of 9 grew a 40 pound cabbage in her backyard and donated it to a soup kitchen where it fed 275 people. Moved by the experience, she started Katie's Krops which currently has over 100 youth-run gardens in 31 states.
