The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) aims to strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion in the European Union by correcting imbalances between its regions. In 2021-2027 it will enable investments in a smarter, greener, more connected and more social Europe that is closer to its citizens.

Interreg stands for European Territorial Cooperation and is part of the European Union's Cohesion Policy, its regional policy which aims to reduce the disparities between Europe's regions and provides support to each region to foster their development.

Interreg Strand C: Interregional Cooperation The interregional cooperation strand aims at boosting the effectiveness of cohesion policy by promoting exchange of experiences, innovative approaches and capacity building between regions (Art. 3(3) ETC Regulation (EU) 2021/1059).

Interreg is an EU programme aimed at fostering and supporting cooperation between different regions of the European Union. The programme, which was originally launched in 1989, covers all of the EU's Member States, together with other partner and neighbouring States.

Project duration Project partners work together in projects for four years with: three years to exchange experience = CORE phase and. one final year serves to monitor achievements = FOLLOW-UP phase.

Interreg aims to promote a harmonious economic, social and territorial development of the Union as a whole. The focus of the programme is on strengthening cross-border collaboration and it provides a framework for implementation of joint actions and policy exchanges between actors from different Member States.
