The Oregon Extension offers a fall semester of accredited college studies for the student who wants a more HANDS-ON, HONEST, CONNECTED, AND DEEPLY ENGAGED LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

The state tax due means that you owe taxes to the state because you didn't withhold enough. The taxes that were withheld from your wages or paid in by you were not enough to fulfill the entire tax liability for the tax year that you owe to the state. You are now required to send the state an additional payment.

A timely filed extension moves the federal tax filing deadline and the Oregon filing deadline to October 16, 2023.

Note: You don't need to request an Oregon extension unless you owe Oregon tax. If you need an Oregon filing extension, request the extension based upon your extension payment method: Electronic payments. Submit your payment prior to the return due date, selecting the “Return payment” type.

Oregon recognizes your federal extension. If you requested a federal extension, you DO NOT need to request an Oregon extension. Mark the "Extension" box when you file your Oregon individual income tax return. Your 2022 return is due October 16, 2023.

Oregon Tax Extension Form: To request an Oregon extension, file Form 40-EXT by the original due date of your return. However, you should not use Form 40-EXT if you have a valid Federal extension and you owe zero Oregon tax for the taxable year.
