The Linehan Risk Assessment and Management Protocol (LRAMP) is an empirically supported, comprehensive framework used to assess suicide risk and protective factors, and provide a guide for the therapist to consider reasonable options for intervening on suicidal behavior.

The SAD PERSONS scale is an acronym utilized as a mnemonic device. It was first developed as a clinical assessment tool for medical professionals to determine suicide risk, by Patterson et al. The Adapted-SAD PERSONS Scale was developed by Gerald A. Juhnke for use with children in 1996.

Lifetime Parasuicide count (LPC) The Lifetime Parasuicide Count is a structured, face to face interview for assessing information regarding lethality, intention to die, level of medical treatment received, and specific details of the participant's first, most recent, and most severe episodes of parasuicide [31].

The five-step assessment includes identification of risk and protective factors; conducting an inquiry about suicidality; determining level of risk and selecting an appropriate intervention; and documenting the process, including a follow-up plan.

SAD PERSONS score range from 0 to 10, where the higher the score, the higher the suicide risk: 0-4 : Low risk; 5-6 : Medium risk; 7-10 : High risk.

The Modified SPS achieved a sensitivity of 57% and a specificity of 59% for predicting suicide at 6- and 12-month follow-up, with a PPV range of 0.7–1.1%. Likelihood ratios, as shown in Table 2, indicated that a low or high score on the scales would not likely alter the probability of a suicide death.
