Applicants must be in fourth–12th grade at the time the program begins, live in the Boston or Greater Boston area, have a year of experience on their instrument, and access to their instrument. Our summer programs vary in emphasis and range in length from one weekend to five weeks. Berklee's summer programs are taught by members of the Berklee College of Music faculty.

All students 15 and older with six months of playing or singing experience are welcome to attend. Most students who attend this program are of high school or college age.

The acceptance rate at Berklee College of Music is 54.2%. This means the school is moderately selective.

The total enrollment at Berklee College of Music in 2022, both undergraduate and graduate, is 8,282 students. The full-time enrollment at Berklee College of Music is 6,521 and the part-time enrollment is 1,761.

Full-Tuition Scholarships These scholarships are awarded based on the strength of an applicant's audition and interview, are renewed each year for a total of eight semesters to cover a single major*, and follow the standard scholarship policy. No additional application or request for consideration is necessary.

The satisfactory academic progress requirements for a Berklee scholarship are to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and a cumulative credit completion percentage of 70 percent. Failure to meet either of these minimums will result in the loss of the award.

2009–2013: Career beginnings. Between the ages of 15 and 17, Trainor independently released three albums of material she had written, recorded, performed, and produced. She enrolled in the Summer Performance Program at the Berklee College of Music during the mid-year months of 2009 and 2010.
