Get Random Student Drug Testing Program

The United States Supreme Court has found that random drug testing of student-athletes is not a violation of privacy. This is under its interpretation of the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution. In the 1995 Vernonia School District v. Acton case, the Supreme Court upheld a school district's policy.

Perceived as invasive. Employees may perceive random drug testing as invasive, which can have a negative impact on morale and possibly productivity. Although this may not be a reality for most companies, it is still something that employers should be mindful of.

These random drug tests are often conducted using a urine drug test, but may also involve providing an oral fluid, blood, or a hair follicle sample.

Random testing is a black-box software testing technique where programs are tested by generating random, independent inputs. Results of the output are compared against software specifications to verify that the test output is pass or fail.

What Is a Random Drug Test? When employers conduct random drug tests, they select employees for testing randomly. The employees do not receive prior notice, and the employers use computerized random number generators to ensure each employee is equally likely to be selected.

This would be better categorized as a Reasonable Suspicion test, which is also a perfectly legitimate reason to test. Random drug testing is, well, random. To be statistically random, names are selected from a pool at a predetermined rate. Each person in the testing pool has an equal chance to chosen.

Urine drug testing (UDT): This is the most common drug test. It requires a sample of your urine (pee). Urine drug tests are most commonly used to detect alcohol, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, opiates/opioids, cocaine and marijuana (THC).

Based on the random drug testing laws, your employer may perform regular tests which should be uniform to all the employees. The U.S. Department of Labor states that periodic testing can be used on an annual basis only. Still, there are no limits to the frequency of the random drug tests at work.
