Educational Requirements Applicants must meet one of the following : 3.0 Cumulative High School GPA (4.0 Scale) High School Class Rank - Top 50% AND a minimum 2.0 cumulative High School GPA. 17 ACT Composite Score or 900 SAT Composite Score (test optional) AND a minimum 2.0 cumulative High School GPA.

ENWR 1520 shares the same writing goals and approaches as ENWR 1510, but focuses on community engagement in pursuit of those goals. In ENWR 1520, students contribute to a conversation and learn to position their ideas, research, and experiential learning in community engaged projects.

The First Writing Requirement (FWR) is an academic requirement that all UVA undergraduate students (other than Echols Scholars) complete. There is NO WAY TO OPT OUT OR TEST OUT of this requirement. Transfer students may earn FWR credit through a review of their previous coursework or via a portfolio review process.

SAT/ACT Writing Section Requirements UVA considers the SAT Essay/ACT Writing section optional and may not include it as part of their admissions consideration. You don't need to worry too much about Writing for this school, but other schools you're applying to may require it.
