§ 578.91 Aviation Badge—Basic. (1) For perma- nent award of this badge, an individual must be on flying status, (physically qualified-class III), IAW AR 600–106 or be waived by HQDA, have performed in- flight duties for not less than 12 hours (not necessarily consecutive), or is school trained.

Initial award of the Officer and Enlisted Aircrew Badges occurs upon completion of training. Permanent award of the badges occurs upon 36 months of paid flying service or upon the completion of 10 combat missions.

For permanent award of this badge, an individual must be on flying status in ance with AR 600-106 or be granted waiver by HQ, PERSCOM TAPC-PLP-I; be on flying status (physically qualified-class III), have performed in-flight duties for not less than 12 months (not necessarily consecutive); or is school trained.

United States Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard The Naval Aviator Badge is earned by all U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard pilots upon graduation from advanced flight training.

To become a U.S. Army pilot, you need to join the Army, meet specific requirements such as pass physical and written exams, complete basic combat training, attend Officer Candidate School and enroll in aviation school.

2. Time: AR 600-20, paragraph 4-6 b(1), states the training, instruction, or correction given to a Soldier to correct deficiencies must be directly related to the deficiency and should continue only until the training deficiency is overcome.

Orders awarding flying status will state that the soldier must perform frequent and regular aerial flight, the duty position of the soldier, and the purpose for placing the soldier on flying status.
