Kybella's most common side effects are pain, swelling, and bruising where it was injected. Other injection site reactions are also common. Rare but serious side effects are also possible. This includes more serious injection site reactions, difficulty swallowing, and nerve damage.

Generally, a good Kybella candidate is in relatively good health and concerned about excess fat in the submental region. However, good health and excess chin or neck fat alone are not enough to qualify.

KYBELLA® (deoxycholic acid) injection is contraindicated in the presence of infection at the injection sites. Cases of marginal mandibular nerve injury, manifested as an asymmetric smile or facial muscle weakness (paresis), were reported during clinical trials.

Most patients need a total of two treatment sessions, with each session requiring two vials of Kybella. However, up to four treatment sessions of two vials each may be required. The exact amount needed depends on how much submental fat you have.

Do not manipulate or massage or rub or poke the area. Do o not massage or manipulate the treated area which will be quite swollen after Kybella injections. You may shower and wash your face with gentle cleanser. Avoid facials, chemical peels or laser treatments on the treated area for 14 days.

KYBELLA® Post-Treatment Guidelines DO NOT participate in strenuous activities for 3 days following treatment. DO NOT scratch, pick or traumatize the area in any way. DO NOT massage or manipulate the injection site. a normal part of the process.

KYBELLA® injection is supplied in a pack of 4 single-patient-use 2-mL vials. KYBELLA® is administered by subcutaneous injections (maximum of 50 injections) into submental fat at approximately 0.2 mL per injection (up to a total of 10 mL), spaced 1 cm apart using a 30-G (or smaller) 0.5-inch needle.
