The following documents need to be submitted: Duly completed application form BI-829 (Proof of Permanent Residence) • Duly completed application form BI-529 (Determination of citizenship) • a copy of the permanent residence certificate and passport.

You can no longer get a copy of a COPR or a copy of a Record of Landing documents. What you instead have to do is apply for what is called a Verification of Status (VOS) that gives the same information contained in your COPR.

Fast, Easy with Support…. To replace your lost, stolen, or damaged Confirmation of Permanent Residence document (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688) you need to complete and submit a IMM 5009 Application for Verification of Status (VOS) form and submit the required accompanying documentation.

Once IRCC accepts your photo it will show in the portal and your PR card should be issued. IRCC says that you should receive your PR card within one week. In the portal you will also be able to access your proof or permanent residency status to use before your PR card arrives.

The average turnaround time from application to collection of your South African ID book should take about six months.

When we approve an immigrant for permanent residence in Canada, we will give them a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) document. An immigration officer at the port of entry or an IRCC office signs and dates this document when permanent residence is finally granted.

You can apply for your ID book at any office of the Department of Home Affairs or any South African mission or consulate overseas. All applications are sent to the Department's head office in Pretoria.

The only acceptable evidence includes one of the following: Copy of U.S. passport (current or expired) Copy of U.S. civil issued birth certificate. Copy of alien registration card. Copy of naturalization/citizenship certificate.
