When parking at a metered space, a driver with a disability placard/license plate must put the appropriate amount of money in the meter. * The temporary placard is valid for no longer than 6 months from the date of issue and can only be recertified once, for a period not to exceed 6 months.

You may apply for a placard and/or plate at your local county tax assessor-collector's office.

You must recertify your qualifying medical condition every three years. You may renew your placard by mailing the recertification application (SP-41) or you may visit a motor vehicle agency to do so. There is no fee to recertify. Only original documents will be accepted; no photocopies permitted.

Applications for temporary placards are available at any local police station or online. A qualified medical practitioner must certify that the applicant qualifies for a temporary placard.
