Get Athletic Eligibility

All winter athletes in NCAA Division I sports will be given an additional year of eligibility, and all football programs will be allowed to compete in bowl games -- regardless of their records -- as part of one-time rule changes in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Student-athletes are allowed five years of eligibility and athletically related financial aid. All Division I student-athletes must earn at least six credit hours each term to be eligible for the following term and must meet minimum grade-point average requirements related to the school's GPA standards for graduation.

Most facilities and coaches are good, and the opportunity to be recruited to NCAA or NAIA level when two years of competing is done. Two years at a JUCO will give your child an Associates degree. Whether or not they decide to go on to a four year college, they will come out with a 2 year college degree.

ACT/SAT Scores Generally speaking, the minimum ACT score for DI NCAA eligibility is a 75 sum score, while the minimum for the SAT is a 900. For DII NCAA eligibility, you must receive an 840 SAT or a 70 ACT.

A year of eligibility is consumed: when your name appears on the playing roster (or equivalent) of two or more regular season competitions if your team does not have an exhibition schedule. If your team does play in exhibition, eligibility is consumed for a single regular season competition.

Academic Eligibility is the status that determines whether a student can remain enrolled.

Eligibility Timeline Division I five-year clock: If you play at a Division I school, you have five-calendar years in which to play four seasons of competition. Your five-year clock starts when you enroll as a full-time student at any college.

A student's eligibility within the NAIA will be terminated upon graduation, the completion of four seasons of competition in a specific sport, or after the student has been identified for 10 semester or 15 quarters, whichever comes first.

It's more than a lot of people will ever accomplish. And, at the end of the day, it perfectly answers the question: no, there is no age limit to play sports in college.

In the 2018 Fall semester, 197 student-athletes (52%) earned a 3.0 or higher Grade Point Average (GPA). Of these student-athletes, 35 (9%) had a perfect 4.0 GPA last semester.
