When the custodial parent fails to comply with a visitation order, the non-custodial parent can file a motion for contempt. The court may resolve the motion in one of the following ways: Fines and attorney's fees paid by the parent in violation of the order.

What is sole custody? Joint custody in Ohio is referred to as shared parenting. Shared parenting, in short, can be defined as a parenting plan agreement in which both parents are deemed the residential parent of the minor child(ren) and both equally share in the decision making for the minor child(ren).

In most cases, the parent with the larger income will pay at least some child support, even if they have shared physical custody. The court will look at the parenting time and income to make a decision as to an amount that one parent will receive to assist in providing for the child.

If your parenting time is more than 90 overnights per year, your child support obligation can be reduced. If your parenting time is more than 147 overnights per year, the court is required to reduce your child support payments or explain in writing the reasoning for not doing so.

Two consecutive overnights every other week. An additional three- to six-hour period or overnight may be added each week. The parents share time with the child during alternating 7-day periods. A midweek overnight period is optional with the parent who does not have parenting time that week.

A noncustodial parent's typical visitation schedule is one weeknight during the week and visits every other weekend. A court may award either parent more visitation, but not less than the minimum guideline amount. Moreover, neither parent should prevent visits between the child and the other parent.

Joint custody schedules The 4-3 schedule has your children spend four days with one parent and three days with the other parent. The 2-2-5-5 schedule has your child spend two days with one parent and two days with the other, then five days with the first parent and five days with the other parent.

Alternating weeks are one of the simplest 50/50 child custody schedules. In this pattern, one week is spent with Parent A while the following week is spent with Parent B. This keeps parenting exchanges to an absolute minimum while still allowing both parents to have robust relationships with their children.
