Spousal support cases are started with a spousal support petition in Family Court. There is no filing fee in Family Court.Fill in the place and date of the marriage. If you are divorced from the other party, this may not be the appropriate petition. The most important form is probably your FL 150, called the income and expense declaration. This support is a payment from one spouse to the other after the court finalizes the divorce. Check with the clerk's office at the court because they may have a generic form that you can use to fill out to apply for the reduction in alimony payments. If you and your spouse get divorced in the future, the Spousal Support order will stop once you are divorced. You can get Spousal Support through Family Court. Your spouse can be ordered to pay you alimony if the judge finds that you were financially dependent on your spouse during the marriage ("the dependent party").
