The purpose of the Affidavit is to assist consular officers in determining whether a visa applicant will have adequate means of financial support in the US. Use this form to show they have adequate means of financial support and are not likely to rely on the US government for financial support.A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. You may also need to submit Form I-134 Affidavit of Support. It's on the visa applicant to proof strong ties to their home country and that they'll return after their visit.
