Rule 8. An applicant for recertification shall file an application and other material required by the Board. After a hearing the Board shall either recertify the applicant or require that the applicant pass the examination described in Rule 3. An applicant may use the Board's subpoena power for the hearing.

An applicant need not have graduated from law school in order to take the MPRE and the MPRE may be taken an unlimited number of times. An applicant for admission must obtain a satisfactory score on the Michigan bar examination, or be eligible for admission without examination.

Rule 15 Admission to the Bar Upon motion made in open court by an active member of the State Bar of Michigan, the court may enter an order admitting such applicant to the bar of this state.

Most states provide the attorney's bar number, but some do not. In a few states, the state does not issue a bar license number.

If a parent or guardian is present with the child under 17 years of age, there is no infraction of the law regarding the child being inside the establishment. And, there is no state law or regulation that prohibits a child who is accompanied by the parent or guardian from sitting at the bar.
