Generally you may, but you cannot call yourself a “Certified Public Accountant” unless you have completed the requirements and obtained a “CPA” license.

In Texas, CPAs renew their licenses ever three years, completing 20 CPE hours each year.

If you are a CPA and were not certified in Texas, then you may apply for reciprocity in Texas.
