Trusts are not filed or registered with the Court. You may wish to contact the County Recorder or the attorney who prepared the trust to obtain copies.

A trustee is required by law to notify beneficiaries of a trust upon the settlor's death. The settlor is the person who created the trust. The trustee has 60 days from the settlor's death to provide the notification to the beneficiaries.

A Testamentary Trust set up in a person's Will does not actually come into existence until the person passes away and his Will is probated. A Living Trust, on the other hand, comes into existence while the person is still living.

Send notice in writing to all of the trust beneficiaries and any other interested parties providing them with the effective date of the trust dissolution. Obtain signed documents from the beneficiaries acknowledging their receipt of trust distributions.
