Generally, under the California Penal Code, there is a one-year statute of limitations for misdemeanors and a three-year statute of limitations for felonies in California. This means that if a person commits a criminal offense, they should be charged in court within three years of the crime.

The State Bar issues a single-page Certificate of Standing to verify an attorney's name, bar number, admission date, current status, any name or status changes. Click on "Certificate of Good Standing Request Form".This will bring up the request form. Certificates of Standing. Read all the information below prior to placing your order as the ordering options and delivery types have changed. Certificates of good standing can take several weeks to obtain from your state licensing entity. Requests for certificates of good standing must be submitted electronically through the Court's electronic filing system. I got an email from the Ca state bar that they needed it and was able to just attach it to my response. For DC you can order a certificate of good standing from the DC bar as a PDF and then forward them the original email containing the link. Applicants MUST contact each office directly to determine whether this information has changed.
