What is the Texas State Bar paralegal Division?

Complainants are required to use the State Bar's current grievance form, effective September 1, 2023, to report attorney misconduct. A grievance can be submitted electronically at , or the current grievance form can be downloaded from there.

Certification: Certification isn't mandatory, but the Texas Board of Legal Specialization offers voluntary certification options.

Texas does not require paralegals to be licensed. However, they must work under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Completing a paralegal program or obtaining paralegal certification can enhance job prospects and credibility.

Candidates holding a paralegal certificate have completed an educational program. However, this does not make them a certified paralegal. A paralegal can hold a certificate and become certified – but these are two different things. Earning a paralegal credential makes becoming a certified paralegal possible.

There is no mandatory certification or licensing for paralegals in Kentucky. However, the Kentucky Paralegal Association's Certified Paralegal Program promotes competence and high standards of professional responsibility. Through this voluntary program, qualified individuals can become Certified Kentucky Paralegals.
