A charge of discrimination can be completed through our online system after you submit an online inquiry and we interview you. A charge of discrimination is a signed statement asserting that an employer, union or labor organization engaged in employment discrimination. The CRD-Employment Discrimination Section works in conjunction with the EEOC to enforce State and Federal anti-discrimination laws in North Carolina. If you believe your civil rights, or someone else's, have been violated, submit a report using our online form. A charge of discrimination must be filed within 300 days after the alleged discriminatory action, or one year for a Fair Housing case. Individuals cannot file lawsuits under North Carolina's state anti-discrimination law (although they can file under federal law). Your complaint must be filed within 180 days of the discriminatory action.
