Failure to return the questionnaire will cause you to be summoned to court. Failure to respond to the summons may lead to your arrest and imposition of a fine or costs.
An employee may not be required or requested to use annual, vacation, personal, or sick leave for time spent responding to a jury summons, time spent participating in the jury selection process, or time spent actually serving on a jury.
You will have access to your cell phone, but in the event, use is restricted. If there is an emergency, please have your family member call the Court at (248) 674-4655 and speak to the clerk who answers the phone. Please have them provide the name of the juror, their name and telephone number for a return phone call.
We suggest that jurors dress in business casual attire. Jeans, sneakers, torn or tattered clothing are not appropriate.
The Court prefers that jurors dress in "business casual" attire. However, jeans are acceptable as long as they are in good condition without holes. Please do not appear for jury service wearing gym clothes or clothing that does not provide adequate coverage (for example: tank tops or shorts).
U.S. citizens at least 18 years old who are residents of the court district to which they are summoned. The jury pool for each court comes from a list of licensed drivers and state ID card holders in the court's district. Those who have been convicted of felony crimes are not eligible for jury service.
While jeans are acceptable for jury duty in most courtrooms avoid jeans with rips and tears since you will be sitting for a long time choose relaxed fit jeans with a bit of stretch for all day comfort just to be sure, check with your couthouse to continue that jeans are okay to wear.
