For jurors selected to serve on a jury, compensation is set at $58 per day, or part of a day, until the completion of their service. A check will be issued to the address to which your summons was originally mailed unless you specify an alternative address.
Stipends reported to you on a Form 1042-S with income code 16 in box 1 are taxable scholarships. Gross income from box 1 should be reported on Form 1040-NR – Schedule 1, Ln 8r Scholarship and fellowship grants not reported on Form W-2. Entries on Schedule 1, Ln 8r will flow to line 8 of your Form 1040-NR.
The foreperson will be asked whether the jury has reached a verdict. If the foreperson says yes, he/she will then be asked what the verdict is for the/each charged crime considered in ance with my instructions. After that, the entire jury will be asked whether that is their verdict and will answer yes or no.
All jurors must wear appropriate business attire for jury duty. Shorts, tank tops, or flip flops are not considered appropriate attire, but jeans are acceptable. The Jury Assembly Room is available during your breaks and lunch hours.
The foreperson should: • Encourage discussions that include all jurors. Keep the deliberations focused on the evidence and the law. Let the court know when there are any questions or problems. Tell the court when a verdict has been reached.
