My elder child, Amy, is 3 years old and my younger child, Andrew, is 1 year old. They require constant care and attention and I do not have anyone with whom I can leave them full time.

Deferring jury service is preferred for a temporary or marginal hardship, i.e. a medical appointment; full-time student or planned vacation. To defer jury service you may either use the Juror Questionnaire Portal or automated phone system at 1-909-884-1858.
When writing a jury excuse letter, directly state why you cannot serve and how serving would lead to hardship. Valid exemptions include being ill or disabled, being the sole guardian of young children, or being over the age of 70. Include documentation such as a doctor's note or a letter from an employer.
