15. How long can I stay in the U.S. after my Post-Completion OPT end date? There is a 60-day grace period following the end of the OPT period.
OPT (Optional Practical Training) is a benefit available to international students in F-1 immigration status who are enrolled in, or completing, a degree program in the United States. This employment can be used: Before completion of studies during an annual vacation or leave term.
You need to carry your EAD at all times because it's proof of your immigration status. What if you run into an ICE raid and don't have your EAD with you? You're getting arrested and taken into custody until they verify your status.
Can I fly with a foreign passport or Employment Authorization Document Card? Yes, as noted above, the list of approved identification to fly domestically includes foreign government-issued passports and/or a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766).
