Second Amendment challenges to various New York gun laws have been rejected in recent years. For example, in the 2012 case Kachalsky v.New Yorkers should call 1-855-LAW-GUNS for questions about guns or assistance with form submissions. Each registration of an assault weapon is valid for five years. All registrants shall recertify to the division of state police every five years thereafter. The purpose of this Amendment is to get and keep firearms out of the hands of those individuals with domestic violence convictions. You are still required to have a license to possess a pistol or revolver. The bill raises the minimum age to purchase a semi-automatic rifle to 21, and requires a license for all new semi-automatic rifle purchases. The Supreme Court recognizes that the Second Amendment is compatible with strong firearm regulations and gun safety. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
