False Imprisonment: A predicate act of domestic violence in NJ which involves restraining another person as to interfere with their liberty. False imprisonment occurs when a person intentionally restrains another person without their consent or without legal authority to restrain them.False imprisonment is intentionally restraining or confining someone against their will, so that they are not free to escape. Under the NY Penal Law, a person commits false imprisonment when he or she restrains another person. This notion is simply false. An alleged victim has the right to participate or not participate in the prosecution of the defendant. Under Texas law, domestic violence charges can have a serious impact on a person's future. It means that the accused individual engaged in a total of six separate acts of the underlying criminal offense.
