Here are nine ways we can practice biblical waiting. Acknowledging God's sovereign control of all things. Coming to terms with our dependence upon God. Seeking spiritual strength from the Lord. Being patient and quiet. Refraining from needless fear and worry. Continuing to learn and obey God's commands.
Moving Forward While Waiting Focus attention elsewhere -- Acknowledge your lack of control -- Learn during the slow-down Experience peace while you wait -- Give thanks
Fill me with your Spirit so that I display that fruit of patience all day long. Whether it's waiting in line, caught in traffic, dealing with a difficult person, or waiting for your answer to something I'm asking for, I want to wait well.
We can develop patience by seeking to do God's will and accepting His timing, trusting that He will fulfill all of His promises to us. As we learn to be patient in small things, we prepare ourselves to face larger trials with patience.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false.
Understand Others: Put yourself in others' shoes. Recognizing their struggles can help you be more patient with them. Listen Actively: Practice active listening in conversations, allowing others to express themselves fully without interrupting. Journaling: Keep a journal to reflect on moments of impatience.
Journal, pray, and read Scripture. Start as simple as you want to, just be consistent. And be there, present with him. Turn off the phone and give God your undivided attention. Be intentional in training your heart and mind to look upon him.
Waiting patiently on the Lord strengthens our faith in Him: We learn to rest in His loving care and accept that whatever He gives us is best. It's also a witness to others, who see His care and faithfulness to us and may choose to put their trust in Him as well.
2 Peter New International Version (NIV) The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
In Colossians -13, we are encouraged to "clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience" when dealing with others. We are reminded to be patient with those who may be difficult or challenging to love.
